I’m leaving Proud Lake Recreation Area tomorrow, grateful for my stay here, for the beautiful weather I experienced during a time when I was “Burnt Out” without electricity, for the nice people I met, and that my summer exploring Michigan state parks has really just begun!
Me at Proud Lake. Notice the long sleeves – perfect temperatures throughout my entire stay here!
The gorgeous lush green pine trees at this site were enough to make me stop and just relish in the exquisite greenness of it all – nothing like this in Austin, especially this time of year!
And besides the massive pine trees, the spreading limbs of this old guy was a welcoming sight as well. Vollyball, anyone?
One day I drove in to Novi, about 9 miles from the campground, to BDs Mongolian BBQ. This kind of restaurant is one of my favorites. I love how you go through the line, pile up on whatever looks good to you and choose your sauces and seasonings, take it to the cooks at the huge round grill and watch it cook.
I really appreciated that they had a lower price price if you choose to go strictly vegetarian, which is always my choice at Mongolian BBQ – plenty of good, fresh veggies and steamed rice is plenty enough for me.
I wish I had more time to visit the nearby historic town of Milford, but I heard about it too late, so will move on down the road tomorrow on to other MI adventures!
