This
stop was supposed to just be a quick overnighter when I was on my
way to Hot Springs. Arkansas. But the next morning I was greeted
with such peaceful surroundings, I couldn't resist staying a little
longer just to unwind and relax a bit.

Here's
the view from under my awning looking out onto the tranquil landscape.

Here's
a close-up of some of the permanent residents of the park. Goats,
a llama, a couple of potbellied pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys are
among the menagerie of animals that have found their way here. Most
are rescues, being given to the owners as "gifts" when
they could no longer be cared for. Except for the fresh eggs the
hens provide, none of the animals are ever used for food.

With
all the conveniences of full hookups, the surroundings are as serene
and beautiful as many state and national parks I've visited.

This
view shows the good amount of space between sites. I had plenty
of room to extend my awning and slides with no encroachment or feeling
of being crowded.

Malia's
2 cents: Sure,
it's not a high-class "resort" type RV Park with a
pool and spa, but the sites are larger than most and level with
plenty of room between sites. It has all the conveniences, including
50 amp full hookups, good water, laundry, bathrooms, showers,
game room, propane, and a dump. The building that houses the
laundry, restrooms, showers and game room are converted from
old army barracks and are being renovated as we speak. It still
looks a bit rundown right now, but the facilities were very
clean and functional. It's conveniently located, close to I-40,
but set back enough for quiet and star-filled nights. |
