Emigrant
Lake is a Jackson
County Park located about 6 miles SE of Ashland. Besides
tenting & RV park, there's opportunities for swimming, picnicking,
hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Day use fee
in 2005 is $3.00. |
|
 |
Before
you get to the campgrounds, there's a pulloff and you can drive
across this earthfilled dam (not in the RV, though - not enough
parking or turnaround at end.) |
|
 |
It's
worth coming back in the truck or tow, though, because at the
end of the dam, there's a trail that splits off where you can
walk skirting the water or the pretty hillside. |
|
 |
At
the top, if you take the fork toward the lake, you'll come to
an old cemetery that fronts the water. |
|
 |
The
views along this short, easy, circular path are well worth the
walk. |
|
 |
Group
picnic areas
Going further into the park, there are 4 reserveable covered
picnic areas with electricity, tables, barbeques, and nearby
restroom facilities. |
|
| The
park also contains a 280' waterslide area that has dressing
rooms, showers, restrooms, picnic tables and a concession stand
with a full menu. Ten-ride, half-day and group rates are available.
Open Memorial Day to Labor Day. |

The
Campground road to the left is to the 42 tent sites. Rates in
2005 are $16/night - no hookups. |
|

and across to the RV park on the water. The RV park overlooks

Malia's
2 cents: Very
pretty park with great views of two of my very favorite things:
mountains and water. It's also a great place for bird watching.
While staying at the RV park, I watched ospreys dive bombing
for fish in the sparkling blue lake and was awakened by the
sweet songs of little yellow birds outside my window each morning.
Most definitely the good RVing life here! |
